Jimmy Kimmel set to Host Oscars 2024

Jimmy Kimmel has been unveiled by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences as the one who will host the Oscars in 2024. The Barbie-themed extravaganza follows last month’s controversy in which The Academy was observed to have snubbed talents like Margot Robbie and Greta Gerwig in the Best Actress and Best Director categories at the Oscars 2024.

In a nearly five-minute-long video released on Tuesday, the comedic journey begins as Jimmy Kimmel finds himself lost in the whimsical realm of “Oscarland,” desperately seeking directions to Hollywood. The comical twist unfolds with his encounter with Kate McKinnon, who assumes the role of the eccentric “Weird Barbie.”McKinnon, who is wearing a strange dress, then shows Jimmy Kimmel a map, directing him to the destination he wants to reach. This adds an absolute goof-up and a hilarious situation that is full of misunderstandings between them, which is a build-up for the revelation of the host to the audience.

Weird Barbie, seizing the opportunity to inject more humor into the situation, offers to drop Jimmy Kimmel off at the venue in the “weird wagon,” a whimsical cartoony car. Their journey takes an unexpected turn as they bump into another car, resulting in a whimsical landing in Oscarland. Enter America Ferrera, gracing the red carpet with an inspiring speech reminiscent of her viral Barbie monologue, aiming to uplift the visibly nervous Kimmel.

The lighthearted atmosphere takes a brief stumble when Kimmel’s attempt at humor with a line about hosting the Oscars being harder than being a woman creates an awkward moment. This misstep is quickly corrected by the ever-quirky Weird Barbie. The promo takes a delightful turn when Ryan Gosling swoops in with In-N-Out burgers, assuming it’s a pre-Oscars tradition. Kimmel sets the record straight, explaining that the burgers are reserved for winners post-ceremony, leading to a playful discard by Gosling and a humorous discussion about potential defeat.

The banter reaches its pinnacle when Gosling, believing Greta Gerwig has the award “in the bag,” is informed of her unexpected snub. This prompts both Gosling and Kimmel to engage in a spontaneous scream fest, infusing the promo with an added touch of hilarity. In the end, the video states the message from the narrator, saying, “Girls grow into women, but not all boys grow into men. Some remain hopelessly stuck in a loop of infantile foolishness. One of them will host the Oscars.”

With laughter echoing in the air, the promo ends on a high note, teasing an Oscars night filled with entertainment, surprises, and the promise of Jimmy Kimmel leading the show with his comedic charm against the backdrop of Barbie-themed hilarity.
