Lucas Kunce Sparks Controversy After Gun Range Incident Injures Reporter

A Controversy was created in social media whereby a local reporter was struck by a bullet fragment on Tuesday. The said event occurred at an election campaign of the Democratic Senate candidate Lucas Kunce where the latter had fired an AIR-15 at a gun range. Alongside Union workers who were present at the range along with former congressman Adam Kinzinger, Kunce shared the details of the event on X (Twitter) as the highlights of the day at the range.

“We got to hang out with some union workers while exercising our freedom. Always have your first aid kit handy. Shrapnel can always fly when you hit a target like today, and you’ve got to be ready to go. We had four first aid kits, so we were able to take care of the situation, and I’m glad Ryan is okay and was able to continue reporting “posted Kunce. “Great day at the range today with my friend @AdamKinzinger,” he added.

Kunce tries to douse the fire after the controversy

After receiving first aid from the former Marine Corps veteran, Ryan Gamboa, the reporter from KSHB-TV continued with the event coverage. Kunce had fired from an AR-15 at the said event and the reporter got hit by a bullet fragment in his arm. Kansas City Star informed that he administered first aid to Kunce and wrapped the wound with gauze after the controversy.

“I know the Kunce campaign needed a shot in the arm, but this is taking it a little far…”, commented U.S. Senator Josh Hawley. The controversy invited criticism from conservatives from online sites despite the quick first-aid administration by Kunce. Getting into the picture, Abigail Jackson, Hawley`s communications Director quipped, “Are these guys trying to make Tim Walz look competent with a gun?”

Controversy rages on

“Stupid. Stupid. Stupid,” conservative strategist Steve Guest said about the reckless handling of the firearms by the former Marine Corps veteran. Critcizing the mishandling of the event, other commentators also added their bit to this controversy. “You could’ve killed somebody today, you freaking moron,” Federalist co-founder Sean Davis accused Kunce of rash behavior at the event.

“If you don’t want somebody to get hit by shrapnel when you go shooting, it’s probably not the best idea to fire at steel targets 10 feet in front of you with rifles,” advised Washington Free Beacon reporter Chuck Ross. Apart from Ross, strategist Greg Price also pinpointed towards the involvement of the risks. As the steel targets were too close, the statement was focused on the unwarranted act of shooting at them, thereby causing possible deadly shrapnel injuries to the bystanders.

“We acted quickly, and I’m glad the reporter was okay and able to keep reporting,” said Kunce. Emphasizing about the safety guidelines, he said that the range had been developed by the NRA-certified counselor while talking to the reporters from Fox News Digital.

In a statement to Fox News Digital, Kunce emphasized the importance of safety, highlighting that the range had been set up by an NRA-certified training counselor. “Safety is important to us,” Kunce said. “We acted quickly, and I’m glad the reporter was okay and able to keep reporting”, as he responded to Hawley’s criticism.

“The last time Josh Hawley saw a gun,” quipped Kunce, while sharing a clip of a running Hawley in the Capitol. He was responding to the senator`s actions during the January 6th Capitol riot.

While Kunce is facing an increasing bout of criticism from conservative voices, the situation seems to have been normalized quickly. This when the event`s political fallout might linger on for quite a time. In many Democratic platforms, the issue of gun control and firearms safety has developed into a debate as also, as the political stunts done to mesmerize the crowd at such events.
