WWE Ring Announcer Samantha Irvin Resigns from Company, Signals New Career Move
The famous WWE ring announcer Samantha Irvin has finally announced the ending of her tenure with the company. It was disclosed by Samantha herself on social media on October 21, just moments before the “Monday Night Raw”, for which she has been associated and a face since early 2023.
Samantha Irvin thanked One and All
In her heartfelt message, Irvin expressed her love for the fans and her gratitude to those she worked with. “I love you all tremendously, and this does not mark the end of my art—I have a lifetime more to share. Thank you to every WWE fan who accepted me,” she wrote. Known as Samantha Johnson, also thanked WWE’s locker room, the backstage crew, the superstars, and the company’s executives for their cooperation and support to her during her tenure.

Mike Johnson of PWInsider confirmed that Irvin resigned from her position. WWE had been informed earlier that day, although the specific reasons for her departure have not been confirmed. Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful similarly reported that Irvin had resigned, clarifying that her exit was voluntary, not a release by WWE.
From wrestler to Ring Announcer
Irvin initially joined WWE in 2021 as the ring announcer for “WWE 205 Live” after trying out as a wrestler. She later moved to NXT before taking the job as “Friday Night SmackDown” announcer in January 2022. The high point of her career was her move to “Monday Night Raw” in February 2023, where she remained until her resignation. Her fervent and theatrical debuts, particularly her excited announcements of celebrities like Roman Reigns and The Bloodline, as well as her viral presentation of Chelsea Green, helped her instantly become well-liked by fans.

Samantha Irvin’s performances have always been praised, especially during major WWE events. She called all 14 matches at WrestleMania 40 in April and delivered an emotional announcement when Cody Rhodes won the Undisputed WWE Championship. Legendary announcer Michael Buffer even lauded her performances on stage.

Adding to her diverse talents, Irvin is also a singer, having appeared on shows like “America’s Got Talent” and “I Can See Your Voice” before her WWE stint. She is engaged to Ricochet, a wrestler who recently transitioned from WWE to AEW, sparking rumors about her potential move to AEW as well. However, Ricochet stated that Irvin would not be joining him in AEW following her departure from WWE.
Future plans not clear
Despite her exit, Irvin hinted at new endeavors in her future. “To my fans, my entire career, I’ve been waiting for you! We are meant to be, and I can prove it. Stay tuned,” she teased in her announcement, though she did not specify what her next steps would be.
As of yet, WWE has not named Irvin’s replacement or indicated whether there will be changes within their ring-announcing team. However, Lilian Garcia, a former WWE RAW ring announcer, returned to the role on October 21, shortly after Irvin’s departure.
WrestleZone and other outlets will continue to provide updates as more information on Irvin’s next moves becomes available.
