Dodgers Take Series Lead as Shohei Ohtani Battles Great Tough Start in Postseason

In a bid to steal second base in the eighth inning of Saturday’s Game 2, Shohei Ohtani reportedly partially dislocated his left shoulder. This was during the match against the New York Yankees in the World Series.

Shohei Ohtani doubtful to play in future game

As per the Los Angeles manager Dave Roberts, the image testing for Ohtani is yet to be done on Saturday and it is still doubtful whether he will be able to play Monday’s game 3.  Dave Roberts said about Shohei Ohtani that, “ he had a little left shoulder subluxation”, and the image tests will be done on Saturday or Sunday.

In the final out in the inning on the feetfirst slide, Shohei Ohtani was seen clutching his left forearm after being tagged by shortstop Anthony Volpe. He was immediately looked after, by the trainers after he lay near the bag for some time and taken out of the field for treatment.

As per Roberts, “We’ll know more in the next couple days,” Roberts said. “The strength was great. The range of motion good. So we’re encouraged. But obviously I can’t speculate because we don’t get the scans yet. So once we get the scans, we’ll know more. Again, with the strength, the range of motion good, that’s certainly a positive.”

The Dodgers clinched a 4-2 victory, taking a 2-0 lead in the Series. The Japanese slugger, who is a frontrunner for the National League MVP award, was 0 for 3 with a walk in the game, leaving him at 1 for 8 in the first two games of the postseason and batting .260 with three home runs and ten RBIs.

“That was tough. You never like seeing the best player in the game get injured like that,” commented Yankees superstar Aaron Judge. “Trying to steal a base like that there, and something like that happens. But hopefully, it’s all good news. We’ll see what happens.”

In comparison to his other teammates, Shohei Ohtani didn’t have injuries during the regular season and managed to play quite smoothly. IN the team, however, almost every player in the starting rotation has been on the injury list in the Dodger’s roaster.

In the list of motion players, Max Muncy missed out almost half the season due to a right Oblique strain. Likewise, Mookie Betts missed over two months since he had fractured his left hand during the play. Due to a severe sprain to his right ankle, Freddie Freeman is participating in the postseason.

Despite the challenges, Betts remains optimistic about the team’s resilience if Shohei Ohtani cannot play. “We’ve got a great group of guys in here and I believe we can take care of business for sure. I believe in us all,” Betts said.

Shohei Ohtani has experienced several injuries since entering the majors in 2018, primarily related to pitching, including major surgeries on his right elbow. Although he has not pitched this year, he made history as the first player to hit at least 50 home runs and steal 50 bases in a single season. He also underwent surgery on his left kneecap in September 2019 due to a rare condition involving a bipartite patella.

“When you have a group like this, they picked me up when I have been down. We’ll try to do the same for him,” Freeman noted, emphasizing the importance of team support as they continue in the World Series.
