Mayim Bialik is reportedly being let go from hosting “Jeopardy” by Sony!

The Big Bang Theory star, Mayim Bialik, one of the co-hosts of the daily syndicated program ‘Jeopardy’, has been reportedly told to go by Sony. This information was shared by the actress in her Instagram post, in which she wrote, “Sony has informed me that I will no longer be hosting the syndicated version of Jeopardy! She also thanked Sony for letting her be a part of the series.

In her own words, “I am incredibly honored to have been nominated for a primetime Emmy for hosting this year and I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to have been a part of the Jeopardy Family,” Bialik wrote. “For all of you who have supported me through this incredible journey and to the fans, contestants, writers, staff and crew of America’s Favorite Quiz Show, thank you.”

Likewise, the official Jeopardy Instagram account also mentioned in its post about her exit from the show. As per the post,” Mayim Bialik has announced she will no longer be hosting the syndicated version of ‘Jeopardy!’,” the post read. “We made the decision to have one host for the syndicated show next season to maintain continuity for our viewers, and Ken Jennings will be the sole host for syndicated ‘Jeopardy!’.

Sony, too, shared the news about her departure from the show. They said, “only that the decision for Jennings to continue alone was made to maintain continuity for our viewers.” Sony has thanked Bialik for her work and said that it hopes to continue to work with her on prime-time specials.

A Ph.D. in neuroscience, Bialik was quite outspoken over some issues like the vaccines, whereas her other counterparts, especially Alex Trebek, were believed to be quite impartial. Alex, who died in 2020 due to pancreatic cancer at the age of 80, successfully hosted the show for a record-breaking 37 seasons and 8,000 episodes. After his death, Sony roped in Mike Richards and Bialik to co-host the show.  But, after some allegations of sexiest behavior from Richards made headlines, he was replaced by Jennings.

Appearing as the rotating guest hosts for the game show, their roles were divided between syndicated programs, primetime, and spin-off specials. Mostly, Jennings was made to cover up for Bialik throughout 2021, when it was frequently interrupted by the SAG-AFTRA strike. Bialik was made to host the show on an intern basis in 2021. In July 2022, however, both were named as the permanent co-hosts of the show. She did not appear on the program or its ‘Celebrity Jeopardy’ offshoot for the past few months. She was reportedly believed to have stepped down from the show in solidarity with the Hollywood writer’s strike.
